This week’s pick of the week picture comes from 7 year old Rosalie from Ohio in the US who was inspired to draw a scene from The Chinese story The Luminous Pearl told by Alton Chung.

It’s a quest tale about twin brothers who want to marry the same princess, and end up on a long adventure looking for a pearl which is guarded by a dragon.

Thanks for your picture Rosalie. The Princess looks so beautiful in her red dress and little black shoes. And I love the luminous pearl that’s shining brightly under the full moon next to her. It’s clever the way you’ve used lots of colours to show how the pearl is shining, and the way you’ve drawn the movement of the river where she’s standing. A marvellous picture of a magical story.
