Our picture of the week was drawn by 8 year old Evie from Johannesburg in South Africa. The story she’s drawn is Ashpet which is a Cinderella-style tale from Appalachia in the US about a little girl who was bossed around by her step-sisters. We love the way you’ve shown this in your drawing with the speech bubbles representing her step-sisters calling out her name and bossing her around. And we can see poor Ashpet as she runs around in her ragged clothes trying to keep up with all the chores.  Glad there was a happy ending for her. Well done Evie – you’ve really captured the story well in your drawing.

And if you like different versions of Cinderella we have Keeya and the Purple Fish from Eswatini which is available – both on the podcast and in our super great book.
